So I figured why bother with that complicated "IP Cam Viewer" Roku app when screen mirroring is so easy !

Thanks again for all the replies and suggestion of help, but I think unless Roku comes up with a more compatible easier to use app that does not require mjpeg I'll just stick with what I just posted for now.Ĭlick to expand.Thanks again, I tried screen mirroring from an old android phone and it worked great and was EASY ! I have a tablet set up with a constant live feed for ongoing monitoring and would only project to the tv when I wanted a super large view for a few minutes. Of course I can't do other stuff on the computer at the same time since it projects whatever is on my computer screen at the time, but I would not usually have it set to view on the tv for more than a few minutes at a time.

My laptop stays put about 99% of the time and I have an HDMI cable from my laptop to my big screen tv and when I switch to that input with the tv remote it shows whatever is on my computer screen and it worked for showing the live feed from the iVMS-4200, which I put in full screen mode on my computer and it was full screen on the tv and the image was very sharp ! "Basic Authentication" is also supported.Okay, tried the "project my screen" app on my phone, it found the Roku but could not connect to project the screen, I might try to figure out later if can be made to work or not, but if not that's okay as I was able to project the screen from my laptop. Includes a screensaver for your favorite IP camera. If you get the app operational, it's well worth the Pro fee for the added functionality of the upgrade. Test out your camera settings on the Basic version first. The pro version also includes a screensaver, displaying our camera feeds while your Roku is idle. IP Camera Viewer Pro lets you add multiple cameras, and it lets you view multiple cams on your Roku simultaneously. IP Camera Viewer Basic is free, but it limits you to a single cam. However, it took me only a couple of minutes to add my standalone Foscam IP camera to the app, so if you have individual IP cams give this app a try. I was unsuccessful in adding individual cameras from my Amcrest DVR, likely because the DVR delivers multiple channels over the same IP address and TCP port with more time I think I'll be able to solve this. Setup is simple if you have the necessary cam information. You can expect better quality if your cam is capturing a higher-definition video. The image in the screenshot below relatively low quality because my "sky cam" is SD and I elected to expand the 640x480 video to fill my TV screen. Image quality is dependent on your cam's resolution, and whether you display the video in the original size or expand it to fit the screen, which is an option available in the app.

If you've set up desktop cam software such as Blue Iris you should have no trouble finding this information, but the app does include default settings for several popular brands. To set up a camera you will need some basic information such as the camera's IP address and TCP port, login username and password, and the camera's MJPEG, JPEG and PTZ links. You can even pan, tilt and zoom your PTZ camera through your Roku. Quick Look: IP Camera Viewer lets you stream full-motion video or jpeg snapshots from an IP camera to a Roku device on the same network.
